A sunny day

Amidst a sunny day, I can see it
conflagrations raging through the summer sky
I sit disposed in my chair, lounging in idleness
From afar they bloom, fungi riding the mountains
They sculpt the landscape into pretty monuments.
I watch from my lawn chair, sunglasses on for the eclipse
My hand is cold to the touch, yet my heart remains thumping
Good morning Earth! Humankind's sunshine says hello
Cue the music. Grab a beer or cheap Vodka.

And while sitting, our minds begin to melt
We brandish tans, but know nothing about culture
There are beaches galore or if we're inland, deserts
regardless keep sipping, it'll all process itself
Smiles are all that we have, fat grins and hearty laughs
to prevent the inevitable upside down umbrella secretly growing on people's faces

Family don't wait up, go on without me
I've resigned myself to my outside bunker of politics
God's wrath pales in comparison to the fireworks!
No need for my flip flops, I'll go barefoot today
And shards of debris, broken bottles and broken condom wrappers
might litter the floor, but all is fine in the loamy sand
Eventually the waves will come to take us away
My love, sitting beside me on the shore
let us enjoy our sunset from where we began
My God! I can swim.
